Who We Are
Unmuted is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the silence — for youth navigating impossible circumstances, adults facing systemic barriers, and survivors reclaiming their story.
Our Mission
Too many people — young people especially — grow up in environments where speaking up feels unsafe, impossible, or pointless. Whether the silence comes from trauma, systemic inequity, stigma, or circumstances beyond their control, the effect is the same: voices go unheard, and people feel invisible.
Unmuted was founded on the belief that this is not inevitable. Through programs, community, and direct advocacy, we create the conditions for people to find, use, and trust their own voice — and we make sure that voice reaches people who need to hear it.
Read Our Story01
Everyone deserves to be heard — regardless of age, background, circumstance, or history. We don't rank whose story matters more.
02
We recognize that most people aren't silent by preference. Silence is imposed — by systems, by trauma, by fear. We address the root, not just the symptom.
03
People find their voice when they see others using theirs. Everything we build is designed to create that momentum — one person at a time, together.
04
We hold ourselves to the same standard of honesty we ask of the people we serve. That means being open about our finances, our programs, and our progress.
How We Work
We don't require people to come to us polished or ready. Our programs are designed to work for someone in the middle of their hardest chapter — not after it.
We give people the tools, platform, and support to tell their own stories. We're not here to translate or interpret — we're here to turn up the volume.
One-off events don't change systems. We invest in relationships, ongoing programs, and community infrastructure that creates durable change over time.
The People Behind It
Unmuted is led by people who have lived the experience — and who refused to stay quiet about it.
There's more than one way to be part of this.
